(2/6/2012) BMP's Event Picks of the Week: Denali Group, SIG, TradingPartners, Ardent Partners
You can view all upcoming events on our site in a weekly listing or on an ongoing basis in our monthly calendar.
We visit over forty sources to come up with the listing so you can check one central place to see who is hosting webinars, conferences, and more. We don’t help run the events or have any affiliation with the hosts. We see this as a valuable service we can offer to you. One other helpful thing to mention is that if you come to our calendar and click on an event that you are interested in attending, we’ve posted all of the registration links so you can sign up for the event directly from our site.
If you'd prefer to LISTEN to an update, we also do a weekly Blog Talk Radio update on Jon Hansen's PI Window on Business program. Click here to listen to the latest episode. Please note that each Monday the update plays at 10pm EST. We will update the page with the newest episode is available.
This week's recommended events: February 6 - 10
This week we have a two event recommendations, but would also like to remind everyone that ISM’s Diversity Summits are taking place in Grapevine Texas Tuesday through Thursday. This week is also the second annual National CPO Summit in Melbourne Australia.
We start with the number five on Tuesday with Sourcing Interests Group’s webinar titled, “Stop Sabotaging Your Procurement Transforming Efforts – 5 Mistakes To Avoid”. The main presenters are from Denali Group, a procurement services advisory firm. Denali group previously presented a great event on the need for knowledge management in procurement. In this event they will share best practices and lessons learned to help attendees develop an approach that can accelerate their own transformation. If your interested in a sneak peek, they’ve already outlined the 5 mistakes and we’ve included them in our events calendar.
On Thursday, TradingPartners presents “Seven Trends That Will Impact Supply Management In 2012” with key speaker Andrew Bartolini, the Chief Research Officer at Ardent Partners. We can’t tell you what the seven trends are, but I think we can expect them to be high level and focused on the external factors that are invading our supply management efforts more and more. As TradingPartners says in their description, “Whether you believe we are approaching the end of days or are sitting at the dawn of a new era, one thing is certain: sourcing and procurement teams will face daunting challenges in what expects to be a volatile and uncertain market in 2012. And, as markets continue to shift at an ever-increasing rate, an ability to adapt becomes as important as an ability to execute.”
PI Window Update Guest Contributor: James E. Martin, ISM-NY
We recently started incorporating 'guest clips' into our weekly PI Window on Business Blog Talk Radio Updates. This week's guest is Jim Martin, (Director of ISM-New York and ISM's Global Group Chairman). While the Institute for Supply management is a national organization, there are many active local affiliates. Once of the most active is the New York affiliate, and they have been working on a monthly economic report of their own.
The ISM-New York Report on Business is released on the second business day of each month at 9:45 AM Eastern. Buyers Meeting Point has been following the ISM reports on business for a while now, helping you apply information from the indexes (which is collected from procurement professionals) to your own work. Don't miss our weekly soundbite to hear Jim describe the month's trends.
The BMP schedule for the rest of the week:
Flip Side Tuesday: Our notes from The Sales Guy's call on last week's Strategic Sourcing & Procurement monthly member call
Thursday: The ISM Non-Manufacturing Report on Business (available in our document library, free registration required)
Friday: Our notes on one of the above event picks
