The Parallel Gifts of Hello and Goodbye
The end of the year is a happy/sad time. We say goodbye to another year while looking forward with great anticipation to a brand new unexplored one on the horizon. Year after year, hellos and goodbyes. The time seems to pass faster and faster, the seconds sometimes dragging while the months fly by.
2019 will be a very special year here at Buyers Meeting Point. I’ll officially mark 10 years in this role. While I’m excited to achieve this major milestone, I’m also feeling a little shocked about where the time went. Look for more as I celebrate the end of my first decade in different ways.
We talk (or write) about technology, processes, frameworks, industries, and disruption, but at the end of the day we are all in the people business. Every one of our companies exists on the premise that we help people accomplish something they couldn’t do without us. All of that adds up, and – if we do our jobs right – the world is a better place for it.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your families. I feel honored to have walked the steps of 2018 in your company, and I can’t wait to see all that 2019 will hold.
BMP content will start up again on January 3rd, with the December ISM-New York Report on Business, and January 7th, with my first webinar recommendations of the new year. Until then, I’ll leave you with this timeless thought:
“Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, benevolence, were all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!”
― Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol
