I have had limited experience with auction tools. My company is looking to purchase software. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do the research and understand what is on the market?

I have quite some experience with eAuctions tools. There are a couple of excelent companies where you can buy a set of auction "events" to try it.

Buying and maintaining your own software is expensive and can be complex. Only if you do >100 events per year it's worth concidering. Try www.globaleprocure.com/www/en-US/visitors/index.html

I have worked on the esourcing tools for about an year and half and have good hands on them. you can try to contact Emptoris. They provide eSourcing solutions systems with Buyer survey, RFI, RFP, RFQ, and Auctions.
