(7/25/2011) BMP's Event Picks of the Week
You can view all upcoming events on our site in a weekly listing or on an ongoing basis in our monthly calendar. We visit over forty sources to come up with the listing so you can check one central place to see who is hosting webinars, conferences, and more. We don’t help run the events or have any affiliation with the hosts. We see this as a valuable service we can offer to you.
If you'd prefer to LISTEN to an update, we also do a weekly Blog Talk Radio update on Jon Hansen's PI Window on Business program. Click here to listen to the latest episode. Please note that each Monday the update plays at 10pm EST. We will update the page with the newest episode is available.
Buyers Meeting Point Picks for July 25th through the 29th
There are a number of events happening this week, one of which is the Annual ProcureCon Indirect West Conference in Las Vegas Nevada – Tuesday through Thursday. If you are attending that, throw a penny in the Bellagio fountains for me.
For those of us stranded in less glamorous locations for the week, there are also webinars going on. Here are my recommendations if you have an hour for professional development:
Sourcing Interests Group and KPMG are joining forces to present on vendor risk management. All of the discussions on this topic right now seem to indicate that very few companies are doing as much as they should be to manage risk in the supply chain. Even the internal ownership of that responsibility should be more clearly defined.
Ironically, the event I’m REALLY interested in will already be over by the time I’ve given this update. I’m really hoping it is available as an archive (which most webinars are). Genpact is running an event Monday afternoon on managing input cost volatility. Here are the details that I like about this event from their description: “identify cost structure’s projected variations (volatility of resources e.g. commodities, energy) throughout the supply chain and translate it into financial impact by product/SKU. Cost modeling is tough whether you are dealing directly with commodities or not, so to me this feels like a good opportunity to get stronger in an area where a lot of us may not have as much experience as would benefit us.
If we hear of new events, we update our site throughout the week, so check back to see if anything new hits.
