(10/3/2011) BMP's Event Picks of the Week

You can view all upcoming events on our site in a weekly listing or on an ongoing basis in our monthly calendar. Events

We visit over forty sources to come up with the listing so you can check one central place to see who is hosting webinars, conferences, and more.  We don’t help run the events or have any affiliation with the hosts. We see this as a valuable service we can offer to you. One other helpful thing to mention is that if you come to our calendar and click on an event that you are interested in attending, we’ve posted all of the registration links so you can sign up for the event directly from our site.

If you'd prefer to LISTEN to an update, we also do a weekly Blog Talk Radio update on Jon Hansen's PI Window on Business program. Click here to listen to the latest episode. Please note that each Monday the update plays at 10pm EST. We will update the page with the newest episode is available.

This week there are five webinars and five conferences or roundtables in the calendar. If you need additional information on any of them, please visit our events calendar. We visit over 40 sources each week to fill our calendar in the hopes that at least one will fit your knowledge needs.

I have registered for two events this week and both are on Thursday:

The first is 'The Five Forces Driving the Green Agenda' and is being run by the Procurement Intelligence Unit (PIU). The interesting thing about their decision to cover this topic, is that they admit environmental concerns rank relatively low on most CPO’s agendas today, and that this is a forward looking topic. While forward looking is good, I’m also always interested in a topic with some novelty, and this fits the bill. If you haven’t heard of the Procurement Intelligence unit, they are based in the UK and offer services to both executive and operational levels of procurement. Check out their site if you are interested in more information.

The second event I am attending is taking place twice on Thursday and is being run by Gartner on 'Strategies for a High Performing Supply Chain Talent Management Program'. So many of the solutions I hear to the challenges faced by supply chain groups involve outsourcing and working with third party service providers. I am looking forward to hearing some ideas for bridging the gap between the current supply chain teams in place and the expectations facing those teams by making an investment in the team itself.

Here is a quick look at the rest of the week:

  • Tuesday: Special eWorld (London) conference coverage
  • Wiki-Wednesday: Master Data Management
  • Thursday: The September ISM Non-Manufacturing Report on Business
  • Friday: Our notes on one of the above webinars
  • Saturday: Blog pick of the week
