(11/28/2011) BMP's Event Picks of the Week
You can view all upcoming events on our site in a weekly listing or on an ongoing basis in our monthly calendar.
We visit over forty sources to come up with the listing so you can check one central place to see who is hosting webinars, conferences, and more. We don’t help run the events or have any affiliation with the hosts. We see this as a valuable service we can offer to you. One other helpful thing to mention is that if you come to our calendar and click on an event that you are interested in attending, we’ve posted all of the registration links so you can sign up for the event directly from our site.
If you'd prefer to LISTEN to an update, we also do a weekly Blog Talk Radio update on Jon Hansen's PI Window on Business program. Click here to listen to the latest episode. Please note that each Monday the update plays at 10pm EST. We will update the page with the newest episode is available.
This week's recommended events for procurement professionals: November 28-December 2
- Starting on Tuesday, we have “Leveraging Procurement Technology To Meet Business Objectives“ from Zycus and ISM. There is a detail in the title of this event that I didn’t catch the first time I read it. This event is not about increasing savings, or improving visibility, or any of the other things procurement is often focused on. This event will look at how procurement technology can help the wider business achieve their objectives. They will be talking about streamlining business processes by driving compliance, driving increases in the bottom-line beyond just cost savings (I think that piece of the event is particularly timely), and finally identifying opportunities and creating seamless sync between procurement processes.
- On Wednesday, you have “Taking Strategic Sourcing To The Next Level With Technology At A.P. Moller - Maersk Group” presented by CombineNet and Procurement Leaders. I like this event because they will be looking at more sophisticated use of esourcing functionality – specifically expressive bidding, which is CombineNet’s name for their solution’s ability to support flexible responses from suppliers. I am also curious about Maersk themselves, as they are the world’s largest shipping container company.
- My last recommendation for the week is presented by Supply & Demand Chain Exec: “IBM On Supply Chain Sustainability”. If you have corporate targets around investing in growing market segments, or upholding commitments around the environment or social responsibility, this event would be a worthy use of your time.
