(12/5/2011) BMP's Event Picks of the Week

EventsYou can view all upcoming events on our site in a weekly listing or on an ongoing basis in our monthly calendar

We visit over forty sources to come up with the listing so you can check one central place to see who is hosting webinars, conferences, and more.  We don’t help run the events or have any affiliation with the hosts. We see this as a valuable service we can offer to you. One other helpful thing to mention is that if you come to our calendar and click on an event that you are interested in attending, we’ve posted all of the registration links so you can sign up for the event directly from our site.

If you'd prefer to LISTEN to an update, we also do a weekly Blog Talk Radio update on Jon Hansen's PI Window on Business program. Click here to listen to the latest episode. Please note that each Monday the update plays at 10pm EST. We will update the page with the newest episode is available.

This week's recommended events for procurement professionals: December 5-9

  • On Tuesday, SIG presents “Take Your Sourcing Down To The Component Level: The Kimberly Clark Case Study”. The case study will detail how Kimberly Clark got their procurement and design teams to collaborate so that equipment that had historically been purchased as assembled pieces could be negotiated and purchased at the component level. According to the event description, “dynamic esourcing” was a critical part of their success, and I’ll be interested to find out exactly what that means, especially after last week’s CombineNet/Maersk event on second generation or advanced sourcing technology.
  • We’re pleased to have had a last minute addition to our events calendar this week: “Top Cost-Saving Initiatives For 2011/2012” from SourceOne and Cash Recovery Partners on Thursday. The main objective of the event is to help you establish and optimize a set of cost-saving initiatives for the coming year. One interesting detail about this event is that it is longer than the average. That sets the expectation that we are going to get a solid level of detail – hopefully increasing the likelihood that you can easily apply whatever you learn. The featured speaker on the event, Rick Lanza, has a rich background in helping companies identify their hidden financial assets, mostly using technology and referring them to specialists. He is the author of 13 publications and training courses in audit software and has over 100 articles for major audit and accounting publications.
