(1/23/2012) BMP's Event Picks of the Week: Zycus, Indaba
You can view all upcoming events on our site in a weekly listing or on an ongoing basis in our monthly calendar.
We visit over forty sources to come up with the listing so you can check one central place to see who is hosting webinars, conferences, and more. We don’t help run the events or have any affiliation with the hosts. We see this as a valuable service we can offer to you. One other helpful thing to mention is that if you come to our calendar and click on an event that you are interested in attending, we’ve posted all of the registration links so you can sign up for the event directly from our site.
If you'd prefer to LISTEN to an update, we also do a weekly Blog Talk Radio update on Jon Hansen's PI Window on Business program. Click here to listen to the latest episode. Please note that each Monday the update plays at 10pm EST. We will update the page with the newest episode is available.
This week's recommended events: January 23 - 27
If you thought you missed last week’s Zycus event: “Combating Supply Chain Risks: Key Strategies for the Year 2012.” I have good news for you – they rescheduled it to this week. Procurement was forced to handle many of 2011’s disruptions reactively, particularly as relates to natural disasters. As a result, many organizations developed or changed their formal risk assessment and mitigation plans, often giving procurement significant responsibility in this area. Since we can’t be reactive two years in a row, this event is a good opportunity to get out in front of the new challenges yet to come.
Another event this week provides us with an opportunity to give a nod to our friends to the north. On Thursday, Indaba presents “Transforming procurement into a strategic and transparent operation”. Based on a study of Canadian organizations’ sourcing and procurement departments, the event outline includes ways to inspire innovation in your department, to Improve access to data and make your job easier, and to automate to gain better control and transparency. With speakers from both the public and private sectors, this event will reveal what the private sector can learn from their public sector counterparts about transparency.
The BMP content schedule for the rest of the week:
Flip Side Tuesday: Progressive Distributor takes on the sales/procurement relationship and the failure to communicate
Wiki-Wednesday: On Demand Saas Application Platforms
Thursday: TBA
Friday: Our notes on one of the above event picks
Saturday: Our blog pick of the week
