(2/10/2012) BMP's Event Picks of the Week: CombineNet, Hubwoo, Zycus
You can view all upcoming events on our site in a weekly listing or on an ongoing basis in our monthly calendar.
We visit over forty sources to come up with the listing so you can check one central place to see who is hosting webinars, conferences, and more. We don’t help run the events or have any affiliation with the hosts. We see this as a valuable service we can offer to you. One other helpful thing to mention is that if you come to our calendar and click on an event that you are interested in attending, we’ve posted all of the registration links so you can sign up for the event directly from our site.
If you'd prefer to LISTEN to an update, we also do a weekly Blog Talk Radio update on Jon Hansen's PI Window on Business program. Click here to listen to the latest episode. Please note that each Monday the update plays at 10pm EST. We will update the page with the newest episode is available.
This week's recommended events: February 13 - 17
Of the webinars taking place this week, there are three that deserve equal consideration.
If you are a Jason Busch fan, you have two opportunities to hear him speak this week. On Wednesday at 11am Eastern, CombineNet is sponsoring a webinar where Jason will share his 2012 Predictions And Planning For Procurement And Sourcing. Among other topics, we will hear about How the European economic climate will affect global sourcing and supply chain activities and about the evolution of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) -- factoring in quality, risk, materials compliance, regulation, CSR, to name a few. As an aside on CombineNet, they announced last week that they would be working with Spend Radar going forward to add spend analysis capabilities to their extensive Advanced Sourcing solution capabilities.
Your second opportunity to hear Jason Busch speak is on Thursday morning at 11 Eastern, in a Hubwoo sponsored event covering how to Leverage Supplier Networks For Procurement Excellence. If you aren’t familiar with supplier networks, they are databases of suppliers registered with different solution providers to provide you with an easy way to connect with suppliers of the products and services you are sourcing. One of the ongoing discussions relative to the rising availability of these networks is how the cost is managed. Some of the networks require suppliers to pay to be included, and some suppliers may be paying additional for increased visibility. Knowing how your supplier network is administered is critical when you are going through the supplier discovery process.
The last event worth mentioning is being held at 9:15am on Wednesday, sponsored by Zycus: Advanced E-Sourcing: Rising To The Next Level In Sourcing Automation. Advanced sourcing event management has typically been CombineNet’s niche, although other solution providers have tried their hand at it. It will be interesting to hear Zycus’ take: particularly around the process and capacity limits of their advanced sourcing capabilities, because that is really what it comes down to: how many items, spec fields, bid fields, suppliers and optimization scenarios can be handled before general meltdown occurs.
PI Window Update Guest Clip: Dr. Jim Anderson (The Accidental Negotiator), Blue Elephant Consulting
Although much of Dr. Anderson's focus is on IT category and supplier negotiation, his real expertise is as a business communicator – and we can all get better at communicating. Dr. Anderson has a series of brief training clips available through his channel on YouTube that educate while they entertain. As a preview of Tuesday’s post, we have incorporated a clip of Dr. Anderson outlining his 'Top 10 Secrets To Make A Negotiation Work Out For You'.
The BMP schedule for the rest of the week:
Flip Side Tuesday: Our thoughts on Dr. Anderson's Ten Negotiating Secrets
eSourcing Wiki-Wednesday: Success Enablers
