Kimberly Clark had a very good manufacturing process including a group of expert engineers that had been with K-C for a minimum of 14 years each. However, there is always room for improvement. One area in which Kimberly Clark was looking to improve was in sourcing transparency. They were purchasing machines as finished products – all or nothing - and looked to curb costs by bringing sourcing down to the component level. To accomplish this, they had to overcome one of the most difficult tasks in the sourcing cycle – getting the design and sourcing teams to collaborate! Kimberly Clark aimed at bridging that gap and did so successfully through dynamic eSourcing and Supplier Management strategies. Kimberly Clark will discuss their success story and how they were able to realize both tremendous cost savings, but also efficiencies in the development of their world class plant equipment.
